Question 1 : Why did Leslie died off-stage ?
Leslie died off-stage maybe because the director thinks that the scene will be very dangerous, making a girl lying in a creek, endangering her life. But, with mordern technologies, they could make it even without making Leslie lying in the real creek. So, the director might be trying to create a suspense story. When the parents told Jess that Leslie died, the audience might be thinking that if the movie has miss some parts and start guessing how Leslie died. It makes the audience wants to watch on. At the time that Leslie died, Jess was at the art museum with Ms Edmunds. The director decided to not show how Leslie died as its hard to show what is happening at both scene.
Question 2 : Who does the dark lord represents to?
Jess - The darklord represents Jess fears and difficulties. He is afraid of being rejected by his friends. His parents were also baised towards him. They treated his sisters much better than him, like buying stuff for his sisters but not him. Jess loves to draw but others thinks that his drawings are ugly, inlcuding his teachers ( except Ms Edmunds ) and his family members. He is also bullied where Janice Avery pretended that she was tripped in the school bus by Jess and caused him to be thrown out of the school bus.
Leslie - The darklord also represents Leslie fears and difficulties. She is laughed at for not having a television at home as everyone else in her class has one. She is also loney as she has no silibling to play with but only friends like Jess.
Me - The darklord also represents my fears and difficulties. For this first quarter of the year, I have not done well in my exams, resulting me to get very stress if i can stay in this top class the next year. Homework is also my fear. I hate homework but i still have to complete them. My weakest subjects are my mother tongue and history. History requries lots of memorising and i my skill in memorising stuff is not very good.
Question 3 : Which version ( movie or novel ) do you like and why ?
I like the novel version better than the movie. The book give me much more freedom to think how i want the characters and everything to look like whereas the movie restrict me to an imagination. Original is always the best. In the novel, it was stated that Leslie looks like a boy but in the movie, they changed it and Leslie does not even look like a boy. There are also many more details the movie changed .There are much more details in the book that has been cut out in the movie.
