Question 1: Why did Leslie die off-stage?
I think she died off stage to create suspense. Leaving a part for the audience to think and imagine how she died. Without the process, audience would be shocked about it and able to understand more about how jess is feeling upon hearing the sudden news. They would want to know more about how would Jess face this problem and what would happen to Terabithia in the end.
Question 2: Who is the dark lord of?
Jess—His dark lord is his family as he felt no one in his family understands him.
Leslie – Her dark lord is fear because she is new to the environment without any friends except Jess and she felt like an outsider there. She does not want to bee lonely.
Myself—To me my dark lord is school. Because now I am most worried about exams.
Question 3: Which version (novel or movie) of the story do you like best? Why?
I like the novel version more because the movie is about the directors understanding of the story. Therefore some parts of the movie are changed and it is not original. The movie is also the point of view of what does the director interprets Terabithia as. But when we read the novel without any pictures or effects we developed a vivid picture in our brain of what we think Terabithia is like. The novel also allows us to use more of our imagination and creativeness to imagine how do the characters looked like and exactly what kind of drawings did Jess drew. Therefore i like the novel more.
