What do you see as problems in the playground ?
The playgrounds nowadays are all not suited for children with certain disabillities as it might be too tiring or hard for them. Only normal and capable children are able to play in them. Children in wheelchairs would find themselves unable to play with anything as there is always a stairs to go up onto the playground. And not being to play anything in a ' playground ' it wouldn't mean anything and they might as well not go to the playgrounds anymore. We should build playground that cater to the needs of some disabled children with memory games and activities that are not so tiring and difficult. And instead of stairs in a playground a slide could be built.
How can we as citizens improve the playground ?
Volunteer groups of adults can be formed to help disabled children in the playground, such as carrying them onto the playground and explaining to them the games in the playground. We citizens can also write letters to the council to upgrade the playground to suit disabled children so they won't feel left out.
In what way can you make the playgrounds more appealing and accessible for the different target groups?
Firstly, the colour of the playgrounds. They are too dull and do not appeal to children, bright and radiant colours should be used. The slides could be painted with different colours giving it a spiral effect making it more interesting. Also some basic instruments and games can be put into the playground. The playground could also be put on the ground instead of being elevated, this has its disadvantages but it will be suitable for everyone allowing everyone to make friends. Playgrounds could also be nearer to HDB estates so it would be more convinient.
